3) It's handy but not worth to use as a primary
4) Gold is superior in many ways
5) If functionallity is my primary objective I wouldn't bet on collectors nor greens
1. You got me on 10/10... we don't have collectors for those. Personally, they aren't my favorite. Most of my builds focus two attributes. With a 20/20 wand and 20/20 offhand (one for each attribute) I feel adequately covered. I'm sure there are some cases where 10/10 is very useful, but I haven't felt handicapped by not using a 10/10.

2. I'll agree there. The only reason they are around is because theres a 5^50 collector that's part of the end game in Factions. (Of course the collector takes an Amulet of the Mists... but I'm splititng hairs because I like to.)

3. I don't understand. Collectors aren't worth using as a primary? So a collector's staff modded exactly the same as Rago's Staff isn't useful? I fail to see you're justification here.

4. Only in possible permutations of mods and inherent mods. However, if you have a green that suits your build then the only point to get a gold is to spend more money. (Especially if the skin is rare). Gold surpasses green on the basis that it can be modded while green cannot. It's only better than collector's weapons because items can be salvaged back off. Most inherent mods are also covered by collectors with the exception of maybe 1-2 inherent types. I don't count those two things as "many ways." Superior cost... that's maybe another way gold beats collector's items.

5. See point 3. Functionally equivalent to a green. Same goes for buying a 15^50 gold sword or getting the same (albeit normal-looking) verision of that sword from a collector. You can add the same mods. Functionally equivalent.

Lastly, what is your primary objective? I'm coming from a utility in PvP/PvE standpoint. If you're talking about making money by trading rare skinned weapons... well then were arguing about the wrong thing.

You got it wrong, if you are telling me that collectors items equal rare items in functionallity... well that is quite wrong. I'll ask again - can you find me a collector's staff that has 20% recharge of healing spells and 10% cast time of all spells for example? Including a nice skin... If you want to be better than the standart pvp player you have to look for items that outdo pvp-class ones. And some collectors items are below the pvp level... As these 5v50 wands. And you can't have 20% healing 20% prot bonus on one staff from a collector - another example. My point is that the only collector items that are actually worth cost millions of gold. Another example - can you get a melee weapon with unconditional dmg from a collector? And I don't even want to talk about the skins, the majority of players prefer nice skins to normal ones. That is not handy in pvp, of course. But it's a nice addition. And 10/10 staff i perfect for most of the build I play in a gvg. Elmo using 4 attributes needs global recharges.

Hmm, you make a few valid points. I do have an old bow that had unconditional 13% more damage w/o any penalty to armor or energy. I agree it's worth a fair bit more than a collector 15^50 bow.

Maybe we need more collectors that replicate all the items you can find in game? Afterall, the game is supposed to be about skill, not how long you've spent finding the perfect 20% HRT prot / 20% HCR heal staff with a req 9 in prot.

Anyway, I'll conceed that you don't get every possible combination of mods from collectors. What you do get is certainly the most popular ones. Other more esoteric mods are probably required for esoteric builds. If the builds aren't so rare then maybe the collectors need to start carrying those mods.

Ideally we'd have a collector that had a pallete of mods that you could add to a base item.

At the very least, I see your point.

I've seen a couple of these "get (insert name of green item here) cheap!!" threads that do little beyond telling people to go get collectors items and mod them up to match. This is not a new concept and I honestly don't see the need for a whole new thread to tell most people what is relatively obvious. If the point you wanted to convey was that there is a new skin at Altrumn Ruins, then there are already several threads out there that beat you to it.

What it basically comes down to is that most people want Rago's staff because they like having a green item. People can get any item with any stats they want from collectors items and in many cases the stats on collectors items are either better or have the possibility of being better than any similar green items. (ex: there is no +15%^50 vamp flatbow of fortitude green, nor any Insightful 20/20 healing staff of fortitude/enchantment green). Most of the time people buy greens because they want to have a green item not because it is the cheapest way to obtain an ideal weapon.

We just find it repetitive and stupid considering there is already talking about how *gasp* dudes collectors exist.

Keep in mind, people who read these forums are not the average GW players, but the very good ones and probably already know all this stuff.

....Yeah right. But do I get that uber-looking two-headed dragon staff from ANY collector? (Or even rare drop?)

No.

Exactly. Rago's price is all about the skin, not the stats. Especially when our only choice was that ugly looking stick, owning Rago's Staff was the only way to have a good looking fire staff.

Would never buy Rago's for the stats. The skin is the jeweled staff skin for illusion staffs with the dual dragons. That's the real reason you want it, not the stats.

many of the green items are recreatable with collectors items and mods......I wanted Kunvies airstaff for some time.....but the stats are just 20/20 (get from collector or weaponsmith) with a perfect hale staff head, and a +1 airmagic 20% wrapping......so I made one instead. (a bitch to get the wrapping at 20% but only paid 2k for it anyways).....also I found out that using a weaponsmith wand and a collector focus ultimately gave me more energy so I stopped using the staff!
SO its not really the stats that people are looking for, its the skin....and some of them can be made as well (check out guildwars wiki if you are looking for something in particular).....

I don't think the OP's post is anything new to most people.

That you can make replicas of Greens with collectors items + mods is pretty common knowledge.

Also the exact same info is on the wiki already -> http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Rago%27s_Flame_Staff
